Samreen is originally from Seattle, Washington. In 2003, she and her husband moved to Ann Arbor where she completed her master’s in Hospital and Molecular epidemiology at the University of Michigan. Soon after graduating she moved to the Troy/Rochester area and completed a 6-year study of classical Islamic learning including Tafsir, Riyad us Saliheen, the 6 major books and others. Since 2013, she began working with the local masjids throughout Michigan in helping to establish halaqahs with a focus on spiritual development for women and youth.
A few years ago, she moved back to the Ann Arbor area and is currently working as a researcher at UM as well as conducting monthly halaqahs at MCA. She has three daughters and enjoys playing badminton, traveling and exploring parts of Michigan with Muslim Adventures Scouts.
